Privacy Policy

Overview

Allowance ("the App") is designed to help parents track their children's allowance money. Your family's financial data stays on your device. We do not collect, store, or sell personal information.

Data Stored on Your Device

All data you enter into Allowance is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

• Children's names and display preferences
• Account balances (Spend, Save, Share)
• Transaction history (amounts, notes, dates)

This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. It remains entirely on your device.

User Preferences

The App uses Apple's UserDefaults to store lightweight preferences such as onboarding completion status. These preferences are stored locally on your device and are not shared externally.

Backup & Export

Allowance provides a backup feature that exports your data as a JSON file. This file is saved to a location you choose on your device or iCloud Drive via the iOS Files app. We do not have access to your backup files. You are responsible for the security of any exported data.

Analytics

The App uses Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand how the App is used so we can improve it. The following events are collected:

• Onboarding completed — that setup was finished, and how many children were added
• Child added — that a new child profile was created
• Transaction created — the type (deposit or withdrawal) and account type (Spend, Save, or Share)
• Fund all completed — that a bulk funding action was performed, and how many children and accounts were funded

These events do not include personal information such as names, dollar amounts, or transaction notes. Firebase Analytics may also collect standard device information (device model, OS version, app version, and general location at the country or region level) as described in Google's Firebase privacy documentation.

Crash Reporting

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google) to collect crash reports. When the App crashes, the following information may be sent:

• Device model and operating system version
• App version and build number
• Stack trace and crash logs
• General device state at the time of the crash

Crash reports do not include personal information such as names, balances, or transaction details. This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs.

No Tracking

Allowance does not use advertising identifiers, does not participate in ad networks, and does not track you across other apps or websites. The App does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because no tracking occurs.

No Personal Information Collection

We do not collect, store, or process any personally identifiable information (PII). Children's names entered in the App are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted externally.

Children's Privacy

Allowance is a parent-managed app. Children do not create accounts or interact with external services. All data entry and management is performed by the parent. The App does not collect any information directly from children.

Third-Party Services

The only third-party services used by the App are:

• Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage analytics (see Analytics section above)
• Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting (see Crash Reporting section above)

Both services are provided by Google and are subject to Google's Firebase privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
